Linocut Block Prints

I remember trying a little linocut block printing in high school, and have always thought I might try it again someday. So I've been messing around with it lately, and have made three so far. My favorite so far is the round one - it's a scene from the Avatar: The Last Airbender show, and is Zuko during the last Agni Kai with Azula. Will definitely be trying more of these. I need to get some 'real' paper for this, though - I've been using generic "mixed media' paper from Walmart, but I think it's time to try some 'official' block printing rice paper.

Glavenus Sculpture

I've been trying to think of things to sculpt from clay, and got the idea of making a series of mounted monster heads, from the Monster Hunter series. This one is Glavenus. It went pretty well - the sculpting went better than the painting, but it all went well enough that I think I'm going to try another one.

Carter made this sculpture recently as well, from another tutorial from the same guy on YouTube - although this one is decidedly more creepy than the owls! It was her first time working with an armature and creating fabrics folds and wrinkles - it came out pretty good!

Army of Owls!

Carter has been looking for something to do this summer, and I mentioned that I had seen a YouTube video of a guy making a cool little owl out of clay. She decided to give it a try, and it went really well - so she's been slowly amassing a small army of them!

Carter’s Abstract Paintings

Carter made these acrylic paintings recently, and I framed them with some pallet wood I had saved from the pallets the flooring came on. They look really cool to me - the closer you look at them, the more interesting they are. The black and white ones remind me of caves, for some reason.

Sleepy Gary

Carter and I were making stuff out of polymer clay a few weeks ago, and I made Sleepy Gary, from Rick and Morty. He's now on the shelf with my other Rick and Morty collectible stuff. For the base, I even tried to match the nasty color of the living room carpet from the episode Sleepy Gary was in.

Sean’s Drawing

Sean has been watching a bunch of YouTube videos about drawing lately, and he drew this. I think it came out great! It's currently on display on our fridge.

Carter’s Artwork

Carter has been using a lot of my plywood scraps from the workshop as canvases for painting. We've been hanging the better ones up in the attic. She's slowing filling the wall along the stairwell.

Determined Carrot

Sean drew this for me a while ago - he calls it "Determined Carrot". I don't know what it is about it, but for some reason it makes me laugh. I've got it stuck on the wall near my electronics workbench, to remind me to keep pushing forward even when I feel like I've hit a wall on some project.

Christmas Projects

At school this year Sean made a wreath out of pine cones, and Carter did an afterschool guided painting session and painted this snowman. Good job, guys!
