Cabin – Foundation

For those who didn't know, I've been building a cabin in the woods. I'm further behind with pictures than I am with actual progress, but I'll try to get caught up over the next couple of weeks - so these pictures are from a month or so ago. But so far I've cleared the site, and build the foundation. Once the floor sheathing was put on, the kids wanted to play up there, and it broke out into an impromtu dance party!

Tuckerman’s Ravine

About a month ago, Dad and I took a hike up to the Lunch Rocks in Tuckerman's Ravine to watch the skiers. The first guy we saw try wiped out almost immediately, and slid at high speed into the rocks twenty feet from where we were sitting. He wasn't wearing a helmet, and got hurt pretty bad. Very sobering sight. On the hike back out, we chatted with a lot of the skiers headed up and asked if they had helmets. Most did not, and didn't seem concerned. It amazes me how so many people just assume "it couldn't happen to me".

New Haircut

Sean got a new haircut recently. We always thought his head would be too lumpy for such a short cut, but now that I see it on him I think it really works.

Mermaid

I would be a mermaid fair;
I would sing to myself the whole of the day;
With a comb of pearl I would comb my hair;
And still as I comb’d I would sing and say,
“Who is it loves me? who loves not me?”

- Alfred Lord Tennyson

Girly Girl

For some reason, I find this picture of Carter hilarious. She's walking around the front yard with her purse, and chatting on her toy cellphone. The funniest part about it is that I have no idea where she's getting it from - Lori doesn't use her cell phone except for emergencies.

Sean and Sadie

Ever since we lost Paige, Sean has been becoming more and more affectionate towards Sadie. Here he is giving her a good belly rub out in the yard.

Planting Trees

I found this photo on the camera today - it is Carter and I planting the trees that were the wedding favors at Andi's wedding. Sean has never been super-interested in planting anything, but Carter always joins me whenever I put anything in the ground, without fail. Once she's a little older, I think I might build a little raised bed for her to have her own little garden, and let her choose for herself what she'll plant.

Carter’s Shots

I let Carter take the camera for a while at the wedding, at she was walking around our table taking a portrait of each person. They actually came out pretty decent, don't you think?

Dancin’ Machines

The kids were completely amped to dance at Auntie Andi's wedding. Even before dinner, they were out on the dance floor breakin' it down. Sean was all over the dance floor, tearing it up. I showed him a video on youtube a few weeks ago of people breakdancing, and he's been convinced that his dancing ability knows no equal ever since.
