Pig in a Blanket

Well, let's say "piglet", at least. She's too cute to be called a pig. But regardless, this is a picture of something she's been doing lately. We lay her down on a blanket, and she grabs a corner of it and does a complete roll, rolling herself up in the blanket in the process. She looks so sweet, does she not?

The Number Five

Sean has really been into counting things lately. And just over the last couple of weeks, I've been trying to get him to recognize, or read, the numbers 1 through 5. So most nights we spend at least a little time where I write a number on his doodle board, and he tells me what it is. When we were done, I walked into the kitchen, and I heard him saying "five, five" to himself. When I came back out to the living room and sat back down with him, this is what I saw on the doodle board. It's backwards - but amazing, right?

Scenes From Space #40

I know that Mom at least had heard about the newly-discovered (and first) Earth-like planet discovered orbiting another star. For anyone else who hadn't heard, this is pretty exciting. The planet is what is called the "habitable zone" of its parent star. Meaning that the planet is in the zone where liquid water - and therefore life - is possible. The planet is called Gliese 581c, and orbits a red dwarf star that is about 20 light-years away. The picture below is an artist's interpretation of the possible view from the surface of this planet, based on the assumption that the planet may have liquid water oceans on its surface.
